We had some fun and games in Dartmouth last night as three French fishing vessels came into port to shelter from the violent storm yesterday. Just after midnight the RNLI and Fire & Rescue were called as two of the vessels were listing. One was very bad )and sank) and the RNLI established the vessel had taken on a lot of water. The crew were rescued and the scene this morning has attracted lots of passerbys to take photos, etc. The ship now lies on her starboard side on the sea bed next to her berth at South Embankment, Dartmouth. All five of the French crew are safe and unhurt.
A safety boom has been rigged around the vessel as she has a considerable amount of diesel fuel on board (around 10k-15k litres).
