Earth hour 2017

22 March 2017

cover

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held worldwide annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour - being observed this year from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday 25th March. This is the 10 year anniversary of the first Earth Hour in 2007.

It is intended as a symbol for participants to demonstrate their commitment to the planet and was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. Since then, it has grown to involve more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide and today, Earth Hour engages a huge mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues. The one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movements.

Earth Hour is observed in participant's local time. So, switch off your lights and even your TV and get on board with this really worthwhile, and very simple to participant in, event! You can also check out the official website to see what's happening in your area and share in this worldwide event. Your voice has never been so important......
