School Visits 2012

The Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company are offering schools discount rates on group travel again this year. We offer a wide range of facilities and activities for children of all ages including return journeys starting from any of our stations; Paignton, Goodrington, Churston or Kingswear.

• Education packs with activities to be completed either in class or during your visit. This pack can be adapted to suit a certain topic or age group but as a starter, cover Key Stage 1 and 2 in History, Geography, Maths and Science.
• Visitor Centre based at Kingswear Station for pupils to learn about the history of steam travel and the local area.
• A guided tour of Paignton Station provided by one of our fully trained railway staff including a meet and greet with a steam train driver.
• The opportunity for our staff to visit your classroom for a preparation day or follow up visit for children to have a question and answer session with one of our staff. 2012 prices are as follows: The trip is offered at a discount rate for schools of £4.00 per child return, (normal price is £7.50 return), and £4.00 per adult, (normal price is £10.00 return).
• In addition, train travel can be linked to a Dartmouth River Cruise where children can discover more about local wildlife on the river Dart with detailed commentary. This is at an additional price of £4 per child/adult making the total including the cruise £8 per child (normal price £10) and £8 per adult (normal price £17.50).
