A combined training exercise co-ordinated with the Local Fire Service, NHS Ambulance, Paramedics, RNLI, Coastguard and the Police will be held in the MV Dartmouth Castle initially in the River Dart and then in Dartmouth on Friday 3rd February between 1830 and 2130.
This exercise is designed to practice combined response for the emergency services to a major incident in a vessel afloat.
The exercise has been planned to take place initially in the lower river downstream of Noss and then on Dartmouth Town Pontoon and Coronation Park. Every effort will be taken to keep the roads free and noise and disturbance to a minimum. However, with up to 400 people taking part there may be a small element of noise and disruption. Flashing lights and sirens will be used but kept to a minimum. Limited Pyrotechnics will be used to simulate an incident on board the Dartmouth Castle between 1840 and 1910 and again between 2000 and 2030. A helicopter may also land in Coronation Park as part of the exercise at 2030.
