Paignton is an amazing family friendly town with a stunning long sandy beach great for sandcastle making and with views to Torquay and beyond from the sand! There are other nearby beaches to visit and enjoy too and where you can water ski, paddleboard and even go skim boarding - or hire a pedalo. Alternatively, why not hire a boat and simply mess about on the water? If you’d rather look at the water than be on it many of the beaches hold the coveted Blue Flag award for cleanliness. Ooh, we nearly forgot, there is also the fantastic sport of rock pooling! Everyone finds something they’ve never seen before and all you need is a bucket, a net and some patience.
Paignton Pier offers masses of fun activities for everyone including a terrific amusement arcade and dodgems. A short walk from the pier will find you at the Pirates Bay Adventure Golf course that is guaranteed to bring out your competitive side. It’s open late too so you can play after dinner!
Nearby Goodrington Sands has a beautiful sandy beach too and if your sea legs are not too great you can take a trip on the boating lake. Alongside the boating lake is a brilliant nature reserve and you can also try your hand at go-karting.
The Green at Paignton has donkey rides in the warmer months with a large Geoplay Park for children with climbing frames and an international BMX track.
The first weekend in June sees the Torbay Airshow grace the skies over the beach with the Red Arrows and all manner of air acrobatics as RAF and private shows thrill everyone over two days. The event is free so all you have to do is cross your fingers for the best weather! There is entertainment on the Green and music too. The Red Arrows perform on both days so hold onto your hats!
