Marldon Apple Pie Fair

On 5th September 2026 Paignton

The Marldon Apple Pie Fair has been going since 1888 in memory of local farmer, George Hill, who would use his windfall apples to bake an enormous apple pie for the village. Nowadays, locals and visitors alike join in the celebrations. Events throughout the afternoon include local arts, crafts and food stands, falconry displays, games and even a novelty dog show!

The sale of apple pie and cream is a feature and attractions include various arena events, an exhibition of craft activities and the work of local artists in a large marquee, plus numerous sideshows and stalls.

Reviews

  • A thoroughly enjoyable day out - I was very impressed with the organisation, it was always very clear where we were supposed to go and what time we were supposed to be somewhere - would happily do it again.
  • Atmospheric steam train - We took the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear and then the ferry to Dartmouth (inc in the ticket). It was a trip back in time and most enjoyable, despite the very rainy weather! Good value for money.
  • An A+ family experience! - >Excellent time< We arrived at the station to friendly welcome and were greeted by a jolly bloke who gave us an upgrade to a cabin on our own which made us feel like Harry Potter! He gave us lots of info about timings and what amount of time we had been given to allow us to make sure we got back okay. A great time.
