Paignton Festival (Carnival Week)

On 24th July 2021 to 1st August 2021

You may be surprised to know that Torbay Carnival has been running for over 100 years. It was originally held on one night - procession night - but over the years it has grown and it now runs over nine days of free entertainment for all the family.

Paignton Festival was previously known as Torbay Carnival. After around 75 years of the same name, the organisers felt that change is good. However, Torbay Carnival is not gone and forgotten, as the procession night (Wednesday 25th July) will keep this name. Despite the new name, they have the same ethos they've had since the event started, to raise money for local charities and organisations.

  • Choo choo - What a lovely trip we had. Despite covid they had 2 steam services in operation and could safely carry lots of people. A 20 minute journey and free ferry to Dartmouth is included in the price. Go enjoy some nostalgia!
  • So organised - So well organised. All had seat reservations and the coaches were extremely clean. The river cruise did not disappoint and without doubt one of the best commentaries I have ever heard. Without exception everyone enjoyed the day out, and thought it was the highlight of our holiday. A credit to all.
  • Great fun - Cost of ticket sooooo worth it! Very safe on the train. Not over crowded and screens between seats. Dartmouth is a hidden gem which we thoroughly enjoyed. We took a boat trip too! Great day.
