Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta is rightly known as the ‘Best in the West’. It does live up to its reputation with great sailing and rowing competitions plus the famous onshore events and entertainment. Thousands of visitors come to Dartmouth every August for a packed programme of sailing, sports, live music, street food, fireworks and more.
The whole week is packed with competitions, family fun events, entertainment, live music - and it’s free to attend!! There is a small charge to enter some competitions, such as the famous Spot the Oddity, but otherwise just come and soak up the wonderful relaxed summer regatta atmosphere.
Here at the Dartmouth Steam Railway, we will be running additional trains on Regatta Saturday, 30th August. Extra trains depart Paignton with a last departure leaving you plenty of time to watch the fireworks and catch the ferry back to Kingswear for your return journey. - Great little railway - You’re given allocated seats with your family bubble and it's all very secure. The carriages have had Perspex screens installed. All staff were friendly and helpful. We got some lovely pictures from the train.
- What a great trip! - A lovely time was had on this trip on the train itself and then river boat - we had the river trip on the paddler which was just perfect - a coal fired train and a coal fired boat! Enjoy.
