Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta is rightly known as the ‘Best in the West’. It does live up to its reputation with great sailing and rowing competitions plus the famous onshore events and entertainment. Thousands of visitors come to Dartmouth every August for a packed programme of sailing, sports, live music, street food, fireworks and more.
The whole week is packed with competitions, family fun events, entertainment, live music - and it’s free to attend!! There is a small charge to enter some competitions, such as the famous Spot the Oddity, but otherwise just come and soak up the wonderful relaxed summer regatta atmosphere.
Here at the Dartmouth Steam Railway, we will be running additional trains on Regatta Saturday, 30th August. Extra trains depart Paignton with a last departure leaving you plenty of time to watch the fireworks and catch the ferry back to Kingswear for your return journey. - Nostalgic day out - Had a great day on the steam railway and paddleboat with my family. Fantastic views during the railway trip and equally excellent views, and commentary, during the river cruise. Well worth the cost, friendly and helpful staff.
- Lovely trip - The steam railway train is brilliant, the iconic click-clacking of the train was enjoyable to listen to and and the train ride had stunning views. The short ferry was also lovely (only about a minute or two).
