Torbay Steam Fair

On 31st July 2026 to 2nd August 2026 Brixham

The Torbay Steam Rally Group was formed during the 1980's. Following the deletion of the Torbay Rally from the Devon Traction Engine Club´s Calendar, a number of local enthusiasts from Brixham who were not prepared to allow the English Riviera to be deprived of it's Annual Steam Rally formed the Group, and through sheer hard work, one members expert knowledge of the Rally scene and sponsorship, held their first Rally on the traditional dates of the 1st weekend in August, in 1987.

The Fair now usually attracts 30+ full size and 20+ miniature Steam Engines, with a number of the Full size engines being Showmans.

Although it is predominantly a Steam Event all the various sections have increased and the show area has more than doubled in size over the years.

Reviews

  • Sights and smells - Cannot beat the smell and sound of a steam locomotive, a very scenic ride firstly along the beach, then along the river Dart. A couple of hours in Dartmouth then all aboard for trip back.
  • A thoroughly enjoyable day out - I was very impressed with the organisation, it was always very clear where we were supposed to go and what time we were supposed to be somewhere - would happily do it again.
  • Lovely day out - We decided on a steam train and boat ride day. The train was lovely, and the boat ride was a lot of fun with an entertaining guide, which one of my teenage daughters found hilarious!
